Who does not love a big warm scarf? This is a very simple pattern, so if you are a true beginner, do not worry, you can do it! I learned the principle of this pattern from a friend, but had to adjust it specifically for the yarn I wanted to use. When you use Lana Grossa yarn Cool Merino Big and crochet needle 8 mm, the long edge of the scarf will become 230cm and the height 80cm. The scarf requires 10 skeins of 50gr/90m.
(if you use another yarn type of 50gr/90m, it can look better to crochet 4 chains instead of 3 to start a new row, just try it out to be sure)
Abbreviations (US terms)
mr = magic ring
st = stitch
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
trc = triple crochet
dc 2 + trc = 2 dc and 1 trc in 1 stitch (increase)
[..] = number of stitches
1. Start with a magic ring: ch 3 and dc 4 in the mr (see photos below).
2. ch 3 and turn, then in the first st: dc 2, dc in the following st, dc 3 in the one after (this is the middle of your scarf), again dc in the next, followed by dc 2 + trc in the last chain stitch of the previous row. See photos below.
3. ch 3 and turn, then in the first st: dc 2, dc in the following 4 st, dc 3, dc in the following 4 st, in the last chain stitch: dc 2 + trc.
4. ch 3 and turn, then in the first st: dc 2, dc in the following 7 st, dc 3, dc in the following 7 st, in the last chain stitch: dc 2 + trc.
Continue as you go. The number of 1 double crochet in 1 stitch increases by 3 for each row you crochet. Below, you see the scarf drawn in a crochet diagram.
